Lead Construction Project Manager – High-End Residential Renovations (Richmond, VA)

This is not a typical project manager position. The person who fills this role will oversee the full portfolio of custom design-build renovations and additions and step into a leadership position within the Construction Division. You will be reporting directly to the CEO and working in lockstep with our team of superintendents, selections coordinator, and general labor force. We typically run 8 -12 large projects at a time, and this role will be responsible for maintaining project plans and progress towards those plans keeping aligned, efficient, and moving forward. Lastly, this role is responsible for tracking budgets for projects and ensuring that we are running projects profitably, hitting established KPIs that keep us all on track.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Manage 8-12 large scale renovation and/or addition projects simultaneously
    • Pipe collars, flashing, spot shingle replacement 
    • Small tear-offs (1–2 squares if needed) 
  • Build detailed and realistic project schedules with superintendent collaboration
  • Manage project budgets, monitor costs and provide project level and portfolio level financial updates to leadership
  • Maintain project documentation and present regular updates in discussions with the broader leadership team.
  • Lead all subcontractor buyouts and ensure accuracy of scopes and pricing
  • Assists the selections process and buyout of fixtures
  • Work with the warehouse manager and labor team to support efficient job flow
  • Lead the team as the project progresses ensuring budgets, scope of work, change orders, schedule changes, etc. are managed in a coordinated way.
  • Consistently identify and implement changes to improve internal processes to enhance operational efficiency and project success.
  • Support the sales team during preconstruction
  • Help Maintain a culture of clarity, accountability, safety and high standards across the Construction Division

What We’re Looking For:

  • A track record of experience and strong performance in high-end residential construction.
  • Ability to oversee and manage complex renovations and multi-phase projects
  • Excellent communication skills leveraging a mix of email, phone, text and other software tools
  • Comfortable as a leader and able to enroll and rally the efforts of a team towards collective success
  • Strong problem-solving ability while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams, tasks, and timelines with confidence
  • Experience with the financial elements of project management including budgeting, cost controls and financial reporting.
  • Experience with Buildertrend (or similar project management software) is a major plus
